Definition
Generative engine optimization (GEO) services shape a brand’s content and the third-party sources around it so that AI engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude draw on that content and name the brand when they write an answer.
Nurdd runs GEO as a managed service across a whole topic, not page by page, and measures it in Noma, its AI search visibility product, which tracks 13 AI engines, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude.
Key facts
- 13 AI engines, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, polled daily in Noma
- A Noma seat is included
- Reports: monthly
- Area served: worldwide
What we do
Five jobs, run as one managed service.
Map the sources engines use
For your topic’s prompts, Noma records the page behind each citation, so we see which sites the engines build their answers from.
Make your pages worth citing
Original facts, sourced statistics, quotations and clear definitions that an engine can reuse and attribute to you.
Earn the third-party sources
Comparisons, roundups, directories and community threads that engines cite for your topic, and a plan to get you onto them.
Keep your facts consistent
One version of your brand facts on your site, profiles, listings and llms.txt, so engines don’t repeat an old or conflicting one.
Cover the whole topic
A content plan for every question in your topic, not one page, with drafts written by our team or briefed to yours.
How it works
Baseline
A prompt set for your topic, and a first read in Noma of where engines name you, who they name instead, and which sources they cite.
Source-gap plan
The sources competitors are cited from and you are not, the questions with no good answer from you, and the facts engines get wrong.
Ship
Content published, source outreach done and brand facts aligned, by our team or briefed to yours.
Re-measure
Noma polls the same prompts daily, and a monthly report shows what changed and what comes next.

Frequently asked questions
What are generative engine optimization services?
Generative engine optimization services shape a brand’s content and the third-party sources around it so AI engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude use that content and name the brand in their answers. Nurdd runs GEO as a managed service and measures it in Noma.
How is GEO different from AEO?
AEO structures a single page so an AI engine can lift a direct answer from it. GEO decides whether engines trust and cite your brand across a whole topic, including mentions on other sites, consistent brand facts and the sources engines synthesise from. Nurdd offers AEO as a separate service.
Where does the term generative engine optimization come from?
The term comes from the paper “GEO: Generative Engine Optimization” by Pranjal Aggarwal and co-authors (arXiv 2311.09735, accepted to KDD 2024). It describes generative engines as answering queries by “synthesizing information from multiple sources”, which is why GEO works on the sources as well as your own pages.
How do you measure generative engine optimization?
Nurdd measures GEO in Noma, which tracks 13 AI engines, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. Noma asks the same prompts every day and records whether your brand is named and which page each citation comes from, and you get a monthly report against the baseline.
Do we need to buy Noma for GEO services?
No. A Noma seat is included in Nurdd’s GEO service. Noma is also sold on its own at nomahq.app, with a 3-day free trial.
Where does Nurdd offer GEO services?
Worldwide. Nurdd tracks AI engine answers for brands in any region and quotes in USD.
